Some call Sequim Washington the lavender capital of the USA, and it might be. At the very least, more lavender is grown in the Sequim region than in any other area of the Pacific Northwest.
The Sequim climate is perfect for the cultivation of lavender. Its rainshadowed microclimate is semi-arid, delivering under 20 inches of rain per year. At the same time, the maritime climate delivers mild-to-cool temperature ranges.
Lavender receives just enough moisture to keep its 'feet' dry while supporting growth and fragrance. This may be why Sequim lavender farms number over 30 in the Sequim-Dungeness valley alone.
Sequim is also home to the Sequim Lavender Grower's Association and the Sequim Lavender Farmers Association.
The peaceful lavender fields in Sequim are a joy to view. But in addition, the air is thick with the heady fragrance of millions of lavender blooms and the buzz of bees, both native and kept. Most Sequim lavender farms keep their own beehives, producing lavender infused honey as a secondary product.
An awesome book that lists the local lavender farms, recipes, encouraging sayings, how to raise and propagate lavender, makes an absolutely wonderful gift book or tabletop book because the photos alone will uplift the heart.

Nearly all these Sequim lavender farms are open during the summertime only, say, from June through early September, when the fields are abloom, and lavender products abound.
But please do check their websites for exact details - you might find one open for business.

Find Graysmarsh Berry Farm by taking Sequim-Dungeness Road to Woodcock Road. Turn right (east) and find the farm on the left at the bend in the road where Woodcock Road meets Holland Road. If the gate is open, so is the farm for berry-picking and u-cut lavender.

From downtown Sequim take West Sequim Bay Road, turning south on Bellbottom. The road narrows to cross a stream; Purple Haze Lavender Farm is on the right - you can't miss it.
Purple Haze Lavender Farm includes an ample store, Bell Bottom Beverages 'shack' serving lavender ice cream and lavender-infused beverages, and a B&B on the premises.
It may be all business at this Sequim lavender farm, but it is one of the most scenic farms in the Sequim-Dungeness valley.

Turn north on Matson from Old Olympic Highway (Agnew area), then west on Finn Hall Road. Washington Lavender Farm is in the right, perched on the edge of bluffs overlooking the Strait of Juan de Fuca.
The George Washington Inn, a replica of Washington's estate at Mount Vernon, is nestled within the grounds of the lavender farm and store. Other than the weekend of the Lavender festival when the whole property is open to the public, the Inn and the lawn area are reserved for the private use of the guests, while the lavender farm and farm store remain open to the public (during the summer).
