Port Angeles Squatchcon Comics and Arts Convention, a family friendly comic, cosplay, and arts convention in beautiful downtown Port Angeles, is quickly becoming an annual sasquatch festival on Washington's Olympic Peninsula!
The Con has events at several venues, including the Vern Burton Community Center, Studio Bob, Port Angeles Wharf, and Anime Kat, the host of the event.
There are games, contests, shopping, food, and fun. The first Squatchcon was in 2022, and was Port Angeles' debut into the world of geek chic fun.

The Vern Burton Community Center (main venue) is at the corner of 4th and Peabody. If you are parking at Vern Burton and using the city bus to get around, the #22 stops right there at 4th and Chase, on the North (Water) side of 4th, right between the Center and the COURTHOUSE. (For PA locals, it's the same giant building that we pay our power and water bills.)
ParkingVern Burton Center: free and plenty of it. (Vern Burton is 6+ blocks from the downtown venues.) |

Ok, sort of. The Clallam Country bus system is free, except for the line up to Hurricane Ridge. The great news is that the buses go around the Vern Burton Community Center (the main marketplace for Squatchcon) to downtown, where various venues are. This way you can just park your car and move from place to place by taking the bus, instead of trying to compete for the few coveted spaces. Wear decent walking shoes, boots, hoofs, or paws, and this will be easy peasy, lemon squeezy. Got a costume emergency? The free bus line even goes out to the local Walmart, Goodwill, and Joann fabric and craft store.
If you are parking at Vern Burton and using the city bus to get around, the #22 stops right there at 4th and Chase, on the North (Water) side of 4th, right between the Center and the COURTHOUSE. Just hop on the #22, and ride over to the downtown Transit Center. It's in walking distance of the venues, or you can ask your friendly driver which bus goes to your desired location. At the end of the day, just hop on the #22 again to go back to Vern Burton and get off at the COURTHOUSE, same place you started at.
All special events are included with your 4 day pass. The "free" events are open only to pass-holders. Passes will be for sale at all event venues including the Vern Burton Community Center, the Red Lion Inn, and Studio Bob.
Ever since his capture by the local Coast Guard, Darrel has become a local favorite and community leader. He has been been featured at several events, including Kiwanis KidsFest and Clallam County Community Safety Day. |
We are still waiting for the 2025 schedule. However, we still have the 2024 events up to give you an idea of the kinds of activities you can look forward to this year.

Port Angeles Farmers Market: open Saturday 10-2. They are in the transportation plaza at Front and Lincoln, within walking distance of The Wharf, The Red Lion Inn, Studio Bob, and Anime Kat. They have lots of local artisans, micro farmers with fresh healthy produce, and some delicious food. It's definitely worth stopping by, especially since you'll be right there.
Bean Me Up Coffee: As you head west into Port Angeles, you will see Bean Me Up Coffee on the right side of the road. It's right by Hartnagels home supply at the corner of 101 and Mt Pleasant. It's where the Christmas tree lot is every year. It's a charming little grey drive through hut with galactically good java. The beverages all have out of this world themes. The Wormhole drink makes the Bajoran Prophets smile. Port Angeles has lots of local coffee huts all over, so grab some quality caffeine to fuel up for the Con.
Dream Playground: Erikson Park, located at 4th and Race, has a great playground for the littles to burn off energy and sugar from Con food. (It's like fair food, fried, sweet, delicious, and guaranteed to have kids bouncing off the ceiling.) There are swings, slides, and ziplines, along with benches and tables for weary adults. If you need a break from the crowd or for the kids to stretch their limbs, this is a great spot!
Restaurants: Port Angeles, especially downtown, has so many wonderful restaurants that we have actually had to create 2 pages to list them! We have pizza, American, Thai fusion tapas, crepes, and even Bella Italia, the first date of Bella and Edward from Twilight! Check out our delicious restaurant pages:
